After the show's final number, Shindle was off to the Beloit Country Club for a reception. She also used her visit to clear up a few misconceptions. She was a graduate of North Fond du Lac High School and County Normal Teachers College, Fond du Lac, Wis. She taught elementary school in the Fond du Lac area for many years and was a former member 160 enjoy Bay Lakes Fall Jamboree By CONNIE DORNFELD Staff Reporter troops in attendance included Beaver Dam, Horicon, Mayville, Hartford, Kewaskum, West Bend, Grafton, Random Lake. Fredonia and Port Washington.

As Knowski put it, "From Beaver Dam to Port Washington and all points in between." The theme of the Fall Jamboree was First Aid, with emphasis on training the scouts "the whole gamut splinting. CPR, hypothermia and poisonous plants, so there is some knowledge of first aid." Knowski said. For those who paid attention and were able to answer correctly at least 35 of the 50 questions on a written test, the reward was a first aid merit badge. The scouts remained in their specific camp areas when not in joint activities including the official welcome and flag raising, the five hour long classes attended on a rotating basis, the Saturday evening prayer service, and the Saturday night campfire featuring skits put on by the attending troops. Each camp prepared its meals.

Ed Kikkert, assistant scoutmaster of Beaver Dam Troop 736, said that prior to attending the jamboree, the scouts reviewed first aid, prepared menus and shopped for the required grocery items and packed their gear. "They didn't bring everything they needed. it was a learning experience for them," Kikkert said. According to Knowski, attendance was "Fair. Not great, but not poor either, especially when you think we are up against a number of homecomings and the Packer game." Camp broke up Sunday morning with all campsites cleared by 10 a.m.

The site of the Spring 1998 Jamboree has not yet been determined. HORICON Although the primary purpose of a jamboree is for the scouts to have fun and to meet other scouts, the 160 who attended the Bay Lakes Council's Fall Jamboree at Horicon Ledge Park over the weekend also learned a few things. That, according to Kurt Knowski, West Bend, director of the three-county Kettle Country District. The scouts and about 40 adult leaders and chaperones arrived at the park late Friday afternoon andor early evening. "Some of them put up tents in the dark Knowski noted.
