Janet Roddewig Janet Diane Roddewig, 66, known to everyone as Diane, of Portage, joined her mother Bertha and brother Danny on Nov.

3, 2017, after a quick fight with brain cancer. Diane stayed positive in a trying time and treated friends and family the way she treated everyone who was lucky enough to have met her, with love and com- passion. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and day care provider. Diane was born to Bertha and James Hagler in Car- bondale, Illinois, on Nov. 2, 1951.

While in school, she worked as a maid to help support her family, which she was glad to do. Shortly after graduating high school in Illinois in 1969, she met George Roddewig while he was attending the nearby Southern Illinois University. They got married on Jan. 23, 1971, at St. Andrews Church in Murphysboro, Illinois.

George soon after worked for father at Hagler Sons Auto Body Shop until taking a job that would eventually move them to Por- tage. It was in Portage that Diane spent most of her life. She raised four boys while also providing day care for countless others. It was her passion to care for children and treated everyone as if they were her own. When Diane had time off from raising children she en- joyed spending time with her family and taking trips to casinos with her husband.

Diane is survived by her husband George; her sons, Robert, Joe, Jon and Dustin; her grandchildren, Trebor, Abigail, Hailey and Mason; her brother Jimmy; and her sisters, Micki and Charlotte. She is preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother, Bertha; her brother, Danny; and her grandson, Anthony. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage (www.pmmfh.com), with the Rev.

Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Graveside services will follow. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Diane has left her presence on many lives and will be missed dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Chicago, IL 60631, abta.org. OBITUARY Jo Hardt celebrates her 80th birthday Nov. 16, 2017.
